A brief encounter

mary poppins; Transient gallery. One film was mary poppins.

The lady mrs banks made me feel sad. she seems all left.

the man and men fly in a kite fashion. the ones who are mad are the ones who are quiet and cannot see very far. but conversely the ones who show the real emotions are portrayed and .blah blah as the ones without. mr banks. ..’you don’t exist’ “kindly do not try to cloud the issue with facts.” Parts of the way the characters are treated make me laugh and feel sad. Admiral Boom does his business and nobody seems to mind. So surreal that nobody notices, perhaps they just think him mad and walk on by. I laughed when I saw a recent dr who.. the one in the latest 4th series , episode 2 where Donna and The Doctor help hold items and objects in place during the shaking.. I thought it a reference to Mary Poppins and the shakiness produced by the gun of Boom.

 

Kite shape with his legs in the bank when he understand the smith and woodlen leg joke. what’s the name of the other one? high. high on substance? life. death!

The transient gallery. there are some people who I know . I saw a show. I like it. even thought about exhibiting. giles had a day where we all could learn things. one day I did some knitting while passing. insert picture here. A text from Brendon to hayley has a proposal wants to go around london putting up umbrellas he shall check the legal side of it. wants to make it to the paper even perhaps the local news. (by that I guess he means the television)

Collaborative Bollocks

blue and white. the lady didn’t like our late night wine bar.  I think i better explain that better.. The collective travelled down the hill in Bath, creating music with harmonica and recorder. Continue to relate to each other . sounds. we based one on Tom Taylor and how he loves late night wine bars. We did some depending on how our feet were moving. The mind gets lost and engulfed with the feelings and relations between the players and we seemed to glide through the city without stopping progressing through packed roads and then stop. A lady wants to buy Claire's hat we made them all smile. that is the art.  . then to M&S . The walk around continue to lose yourself in the music expression. Change the music reacting to the happy responses. a snake of children clapping and dancing behind us. we don't know where we will go. I was a little unsure about going round the store again as one of the young ones suggested but we did anyway. They tried to give money to the music makers but that was not required. small children smiles . Waitrose was really great because the staff all laughed and smile so our job was done.Irony followed.. we got to the victoria art gallery foyer and the lady said "do you mind not doing that in here please" I couldn't keep a straight face. we thought it would be THe place for artistic expression.. an art gallery. we wouldn't evn be there long.  Sound.. sound using it to respond to the area. launderette. blue launderette and white. Visual and verbal french literature. culture are you nature yet? No. we had a queue of children behind us in waitrose. that is art. not art on my walls. the being. /Collaborations of friends and jazz. Speed dating. The outcomes of talk were that we talked. I talked and that was fun. confidence. 

Talked to suvi about paint 1.77 from atlantis algate east. gouache. I like the fact that temporary could be of the results, you get it wet and it runs.

I have chosen to look at 2 artists . they are both collectives

Collaborative Bollocks is an artish based group

Formed in 2006 , it is a kind of transient group. I like to think of us as some sort of flimsy watery powder paint or scrap of newspaper

We put 12's on a wall.

We paint on floors

We love art on trolleys . it's all about fun and not about what the pretentious people call Art.

we draw pictures in comment books. 

We paint plates.

We write stories together in restaurants.

we draw.

ucan draw. we make proposals for trolleys that never happen. 

We make stories about circuses.

we go to late night wine bars in our heads while composing and peforming impovisations on harmonica and recorder and dance troupes following us through marks and spencers.

we are all going to live in a big house and play chess all night and drift.

Members include sometimes Sarah jane, matthew randle , claire little, karl dando, alec stevens, catherine lambert and whoever else wants to join.

Too Many Cocks

is a music based band , conceptual as we never create any sounds. it's the idea and the name surrounding wonderful relationships between fellow human beings. I am rubbish at doing research and don't know how to find books about the things that I want to read about. It's loosely based on Too many cooks spoil the broth?

'Institution'

Madonna

this will be brief. Charlie wanted to make a madonna tribute band. this is my application. 

I hear Frozen. me and alex and viv sat on a sofa and talked and watched the video. cunningham. then to bjork , then athens and big dresses but that's another topic.

maddonalicious was a website that i saw on the screen. alex tells of how the american life video was banned because of war in Iraq. He said she (madonna) took the decision to do this herself. 

One day I was flicking through the various channels on the television. 

I saw a andreas gers .. photograph of a madonna concert in the tour 2001. This is something that i had heard before.

'Medium'

Looking.

I tried to find a book about what Jenny was talking to me about in the pub on the thursday 22th april. I couldn't find one. Michael was telling about the creative people and how writers and these arty folk look and look in completely different ways. 

Jenny says about a day workshop in which she had to look at a room for the whole day. Details and look deeply at it all.

I talked to richard and said that I looked and read his artists statement that he wrote/put on the wall to accompany the second year show. There was a different kind of looking and attention. Active or passive reading and looking. I remembered that the quote on it was from American History X. It also said that someone else said that writings should end with a good quote.  I happened to stumble upon that text on his blog. "... to actively work... " 

Richard says to look at his blog about the active and passive. I couldn't find it but read about what he writes about Viv's practice.

I was talking to Libby, a third year fine art student while helping with her work on 2nd may 2008 and we were discussing the topic. She is much more an aural person listening. talking about . I explained that there is sooo much whizzing around to sense here in this world that it's incredibly difficult to be selective... well. I mean that consciously looking  see the active passive bit that i was talking to michael, jenny, richard,it is hard to . one has to have thought about the way they view and observe it in order to change the way they view it. 

one favourite place is the launderette so much i close my eyes and hum.

The whole of what this medium I'm looking into is 'loooking' mostly seeing with the brain, moreover the observations and how completely different everyone interprets what it is, means and how one goes about the process of observation.

On the first morning of my stay in north london I aquired a book. ways of seeing by john berger. I read most of it a few months later. I can't remember much or indeed any of it.

the context place is always different. but my brain is just looking at it starting to look at it all in similar ways as if they are all art gallerys

Viv mentioned the name to me yesterday. this blog is not going very well.. I need to do more research. That image reminded me of the work i did, you can see that on my other blog.

Feels like i should be shopping. I want to go and see the exhibitions but i’ve been thinking about it so much. it seems silly a paradox. oxymoron. allalal . I like this song american life. I was tempted to watch donnie darko again. I ought to write about what i need to for my blog. artists. I think just their influence on my life. aaargh. biography.. what is the point in that. Institution.. first. gallery mauger modern . i cant. should i ring them? Modern painters I’ll try and read it all in the library. I find it surreal strange interesting how all the things that read and everything goes into heads and is scary trying to pick. bizarre me and claire (collaborative bollocks) think how there are this these lists that people feel inclined to have to read.  (something that the transient gallery has upheld... not that it's silly..they have curated an exhibition of alist of books that are to be read and ticked off)

 It’s tough getting through all this as . wit . with . me. with. wit. I don’t know> i just don’t . Modern Painting/ers is fun. The contents page and typography and that i know what i’m reading/ in relation to magazine. the language. seems like a simple start to the beginner of art. doesn’t seem like i shuld be knowing much already. lots of adverts that look tempting. that’s how i came across some painters and almost made me go to berlin next week. Aims? to show art and ask questions perhaps. I should ask them and phone. what are your aims . who started it? the same for a galllery steve or paul at mauger. what is this meant to be aboutt. archive.... links  pictures thoughts what was there. I alike a couple of the people represented costa was just like mine of a few years ago. I like a few years ago . I don’t remember doing all the work and paintoing but thinking about it i tended to just do art and try and block out all the writing and just paint. I did that too last year at foundation. It was funny going into a room and finding lots of paper and books that i write and scribble and draw in trying to find electrical goods and adapters in a not success. medium of looking drawing . there is too much history.. describe my own experience.. askothers. drawing with looking. look. to see . not eastenders. I would but there are the guilty books and it.. eastenders is not incidental enough .. so i go for one or two programmes a week torchwood  camp comedy drama. everybody’s looking for something. (madonna bits) If you look for something you will always find something. not always what you were looking. what’s the difference between looking and seeing? Looking is feeling with your body and brain if you wanna play the game. fun house. like memory. relations between everything relationship links. songs have lots of you love in . aaargh. moulin rouge. didnt’ see it all cheesy love songs so much about and it is not anything tangible but it makes sad .

Some thought about what it is to look at an artist> what do they do.

write about a publication. I keep changing my mind. one day saturday I bought modern painters i wanted big issue. do they have a sight. I talked to alex chocholko on the internet he said that is what i do.. change my mind. i did in his presence.

Karl said i say or was it me that what i say is what i’m thinking . . not all of it.. in comparison to all most the other people say which generally is not the thing that they are thinking feeling inside. fun sober fun and tea and bed and kirk.

Modern painters ..  is a magazine I introduced to by dave mentioned that we should be reading and buying. I seem to be led... one has to by something so it may as well have been him. read and read last night the seemingly  uncomfortable situations distant images Futoshi Miyagi (Modern painters feb 2008). how it makes me feel? . In another one a matthew collings about the painters of modern life painting painting exhibition at the hayward.. familiar now his writing from the book this is modern art that i used from claire and then again another day from the library. Homosexuality? the photos make me remember the cold kind of transcripts of an empty email series exchange. put into this situation.. blank. uneasy.

I read michaels writing. there is a waiting room at paddington and on thursday i drew it and from it and people there and stains on a wall. stains . and dribbles. I kept that action happening i realised lying with chess pieces below, not below me for i was on the bed but on the floor. arrange the pieces in a collaborative bollock karl as the conversation discussion about us and relations intensify.. as does the closeness of hands and pieces and proximety of positioning tight similar pieces. the ones that are like little penis.

Me and rosie and bacon were wandering back from a show and i caught a glimpse of painting through a little window. I took a step back and said ‘can we go in here?’ We did. It was Lazarides Gallery showing conor harrington’s weekend warriors. Instant reaction. use of drawing.. I emailed something to the email address last night.

Institution

I would write about the First Great Western as an institution. It is a possibility. The idea here is just to write and look. For me... I think the point of this task is to look and have some kind of engagement. It is nigh on impossible to limit ourselves to 5 'things'. I did some drawings about the logo to start with then I looked at the posters of First Great western. I like this logo. there is a line.. if you read from bottom that takes you away... and this institution can get you beyond a space to the new place you want to get to.. beyond the horizontal element within the logo. I did a rubbing of this thing that's on the back of the seats on the trains. Shape of F to remind you of the name.. First.
